When You Arrive

Volunteers will assist new families during Move-In. Be sure belongings are labeled with name, residence hall, and room number. These steps will guide you through the rest:

  1. DROP-OFF: Be prepared to move quickly through the vehicle line. You will be directed to a traffic line and then instructed on when and where to unload your belongings, and where to park afterward.
  2. CHECK-IN: Next you will check into your residence hall and receive room key/card access. Residence Life staff will greet you on the first floor of your hall.
  3. GEWW: Then you will check in with First Year Initiative to register for Golden Eagle Welcome Week (GEWW). GEWW is a required event for freshmen; transfers are invited to participate but not required.
  4. FLOOR MEETING: Each floor in every residence hall is assigned a resident assistant (RA). Your RA will have a mandatory floor meeting. The time and location will be posted on your floor.
  5. PARKING: Before you go to bed, make sure your vehicle is parked in a residential zone. Remember, you can be ticketed or towed if you park in the wrong zone.

  • Early arrivals may be approved on a case-by-case basis. Contact Justin Long.
  • The Residence Life office is located on the first floor of Hickman Hall (map). Call 601.266.4783.
  • Information tents will be set up in the Century Park North (map) courtyard and in the Freshman Quad (map) during Move-In Days.
